About the Position: Position performs a variety of audiovisual functions to produce video programs from concept through completion; to include the planning and coordination and designing of productions; directing talent and production crew members; and performing audio and visual editing for the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE), Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Plans, directs and edits complex live, taped and filmed productions that support various requirements of the MEDCoE and other elements of the Department of the Army (DA) and Department of Defense (DoD). Directs the editing of all assigned productions to ensure an effective, completed presentation. Serves as a television camera operator using state of the art color cameras.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 75 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position has a requirement to obtain a military driver's license to perform duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a variety of audiovisual functions to produce video programs from concept through completion; to include the planning and coordination and designing of productions; directing talent and production crew members; and performing audio and visual editing. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to this position such as Media Management, or a closely related Communication field. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision MakingOral CommunicationProduction and ProcessingTelecommunications Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
