This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U. S. Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Center, Short Range Recovery (SRR), SRR Programmed Depot Maintenance (PDM) Branch, Elizabeth City, NC. 

Duties

The role of this position is to provide journeyman level work in the composite/plastic fabricator.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • May be required to fly on Coast Guard aircraft.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • This position requires pre-appointment Physical Examination.
  • Applicant will be subject to pre-appt and random drug testing.
  • Occasional Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) is required.
  • Subject to overtime or recall.
  • Rotating shift work may be required.

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:1. Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (Screen-out Element)2. Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc.3. Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)4. Use of measuring instruments5. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (Includes blueprint reading)6. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.7. Knowledge of materials.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
