Acadia National Park is located in Bar Harbor, ME on Mount Desert Island, approximately 3.5 hours north of Portland, ME. Bar Harbor is a town on Mount Desert Island along Maine's Frenchman Bay. It serves as a gateway to the mountains and cliffs of neighboring Acadia National Park. Towering over the park, Cadillac Mountain has trails and views of the town, the bay and the Cranberry Islands. Approximately 10,000 people live on Mt. Desert Island.
Duties
Serves as an assistant to the senior level Concessions Management Specialist with the park's Concessions and Commercial Use Authorization Programs assuring quality services consistent with NPS and park specific objectives.
The incumbent will be the responsible for reviewing and issuing Commercial Use Authorizations and will be involved in the development and review of special park conditions.
The incumbent will be involved in the review of maintenance and operating plans. The incumbent will also work with other divisions to assure that park programs are accurately reflected.
This position will assist with periodic reviews, monitoring, and evaluation of all concession contracts for compliance with contractual obligations, established regulations and policies, including public health, accessibility (ADA), environmental, safety and integrated pest management.
This position will be involved in preparing correspondence, reports and other documents related to commercial services.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level. The Full Performance Level for this position is Grade 09.

Qualifications

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience.
For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.

To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: Possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes but is not limited to: Reviewing and issuing Commercial Use Authorizations (CUA); performing basic analyses of collected data; providing support for developing documents related to commercial services , such as, preparing special park conditions for CUA's, assisting in the completion of Annual Overall Ratings; drafting responses to routine inquires and complaints from the general public; preparing routine reports using established templates; planning; creating and disseminating written communication to a variety of audiences, and using software programs; such as work processing, spreadsheets, or database (e.g. Excel, Access, word or similar operating systems. You must include hour worked per week on resume.

EDUCATION: Have at least one year of graduate level education. My graduate level education demonstrates that I have the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position to be filled. -OR- I have a bachelor's degree in which I achieved superior academic standing based on 1) class standing, 2) grade point average, or 3) membership in a national scholastic honor society. My superior academic achievement was gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. You must include transcripts.

COMBINATION: Equivalent Combination of Graduate Education and Specialized Experience: I do not have one full year of specialized experience as described above, the one year of graduate study in a field directly related to the work of this position as shown above, or the Superior Academic Achievement, but I have an equivalent combination of such education and experience. For example, I have one-half year of the specialized experience described in A above (50% of the experience requirement), and 14 semester hours or 21 quarter hours of directly related graduate level college study in an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education). Specialized experience includes: Reading guidelines and contract language to determine program or contract requirements related to the management and administration of the Commercial Services Programs; performing basic analyses of collected data; providing support for developing documents related to business opportunities, such as, assisting in the development of prospectus documents, requests for proposals, and requests for bids for leases; reviewing financial reports for completeness and compliance with annual financial report instructions; drafting responses to routine inquiries and complaints from the general public; preparing routine reports using established templates; planning, coordinating and implementing simple projects, such as, real estate market studies and site visit evaluations; creating and disseminating written communication to a variety of audiences, and using software programs; such as, word processing, spreadsheet, or database (e.g., Excel, Access, Word, or similar operating systems). You must include hour worked per week on resume.

EDUCATION: Have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree -OR- two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree -OR- LL.B. or J.D., if related. Graduate education must be directly related to this position and provide the knowledge, skill, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. You must include transcripts.

COMBINATION: Have a combination of graduate education (more than one year of graduate education, but less than two full years) and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take the number of completed graduate coursework in excess of 18 semester hours and divide by 18. Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts.
