Army Materiel Command (AMC) is the Army's primary logistics and sustainment command, responsible for managing the global supply chain and ensuring installation and materiel readiness across the Total Force.

Duties

Serve as the Supervisory Supply Management Specialist with the responsibility for the material management, requisition, accountability, storage, distribution, and turn-in of supplies, materials, and equipment. Manage and direct the daily operations of supply and storage personnel to provide material management functions to support material requirements and logistics work center missions. Requisition, receive, store, transport, and issue supplies, equipment, and material that support the logistics work centers of manufacturing, cadet supply and services, food preparation, transportation, and harbor craft. Review logistical reports and support plans for accuracy, improvement, and compliance with mandated requirements. Serve as the material manager on all installation and mission related stock and supply items. Utilize supply/material management automated systems such as Standard Army Retail Supply System (SARSS), Standard Army Ammunition System-Modernization (SAAS-MOD), and Standard Property Book System-Redesigned (SPBS-R). Assist with conducting comprehensive studies and analysis of proposed or directed changes to support requirements. Perform supervisory duties to include evaluating work performance of employees based on established standards; assigning work; resolving complaints; identifying training needs; approving and disapproving leave; and recommending or approving awards

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position may be designated as mission-essential, and incumbent is subject to recall to duty in times of emergency to perform time-sensitive, mission critical work.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • The employee may be required to work overtime.
  • Incumbent may be required to travel up to 15% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/ level position in the Federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Supply, Supply Management, Logistics, Logistics Management. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
