Duties

You will serve as a Clinical Psychologist in the Command Support Directorate, Medical Readiness Division in Mayport, FL. You will evaluate, diagnose and treat the full range of patients with disorders and utilize evidence-based or evidenced informed prevention and promotion strategies to help optimize the psychological health of sailors. You will assess and provide crisis intervention for individuals with complex behavioral health conditions and problems to include acute and chronic dangerousness. You will provide individual, and/or group psychological counseling utilizing a variety of treatment modalities for adult patients and engage in program evaluation, which may include special research-investigation testing program effectiveness. You will screen and interview patients, and perform bio-psychological social evaluations, using mastery professional knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to psychological counseling.

• You will be required to meet any applicable credentialing or privileging requirements prior to appointment.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Clinical Psychologist or equivalent license.
• In accordance with BUMED INST 6220.9B, this position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations and a signed (Condition of employment) consenting to such.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements (See Education section): for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience conveying written information in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience, using correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling and interpreting and dealing with personal problems and situations. *Experience demonstrating ability to clearly and effectively articulate, present, and promote varied ideas and issues (to include sensitive or controversial topics) before a wide range of audiences. *Experience identifying and analyzing problems; weighing relevance and accuracy of information; seeking/generating and evaluating alternative perspectives/solutions; making timely/effective recommendations based on potential implications of findings or conclusions. *Utilizing processes involved in coordinating services for mental health cases and assessing, diagnosing, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders for individuals, couples, or larger groups. Degree: major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology. These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below:

*Clinical psychology: For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.

*Counseling psychology: For positions at grades GS-9 and above, satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology is required.
