You will serve as a WEIGHT HANDLING EQUIPMENT (WHE)SURVEILLANCE SUPERVISOR in the Public Works Business Line, Transportation Product Line, Northeast Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) Program Division of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC. One Vacancy that will be filled at either Groton, CT or Newport, RI

Duties

You will develop and manage procedures carried out by NAVFAC MIDLANT Crane Surveillance Teams composed of Crane Operators, Riggers, Engineers, and Equipment Specialists throughout the region. You will examine and interpret the facts and information derived from the investigations for compliance with laws, rules, regulations and department/command operating procedures. You will review the abilities, knowledge, skills, training records and requirements of personnel associated with accidents. You will investigate all circumstances involved in individual cases, determining costs, conducts and directs the interview process of witnesses, and determining probable causes and contributing factors. You will plan and carry out investigations that provide maximum coverage of the WHE in the area of responsibilities (AORs), concentrating investigation activities on those cranes which have a high incidence of accidents, complaints, or violations. You will prepare reports detailing the circumstances surrounding the accident/incident and the probable and contributing cause or causes, and proposes recommendations to prevent future occurrences.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Possesses knowledge and experience of weight handling equipment management, operation, inspection, safety and maintenance; 2) Develops processes, conducts and directs weight handling equipment accident/incident investigations; 3) Examines and interprets the facts and information derived from the investigations for compliance with laws, rules, regulations and department/command operating procedures; 4) Investigates all circumstances involved in individual cases, determining costs, conducts and directs the interview process of witnesses, and determining probable causes and contributing factors; and 5) Prepares reports detailing the circumstances surrounding the accident/incident and the probable and contributing cause or causes, and proposes recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
