About the position: This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation/Recycling Center.
Duties
Loads and unloads recycling materials from trucks. Segregates various commodities determining if item is a containment or, in some cases, removing contaminants such as metal strapping or Styrofoam padding. Items include nut are not limited to: paper, computer paper, cardboard, glass, metals, and plastic. Places recyclable items in appropriate bins. Logs each item loaded onto truck by commodity. Operates recyclable equipment such as, but not limited to: paper bailer, aluminum can crusher, glass crusher and book binder cutter. Keeps area clean, ensuring no safety hazards exist.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Skills required to safely operate recycling equipment and manipulate all controls, and the ability to ensure machines are properly loaded are desirable. Knowledge of various recyclable materials and the ability to segregate them according to type is desirable. Experience which demonstrated the ability to operate, control and clean heavy powered equipment. Must be able to follow oral and/or written instructions. Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry heavy objects weighing more than 50 pounds. Work that does not require the skill and knowledge in operating heavy equipment continually involves extreme physical effort, such as constantly lifting or carrying objects weighing 75 to 100 pounds or more. Frequent standing, bending, and arm movement are involved.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
