This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is to classify, rate, route, and effect shipment of cargo requiring knowledge of transportation regulations, methods, and techniques.

Duties

Performs the more difficult and complex classification of shipments. Selects most economical and advantageous rates, routes, and modes. Determines if items qualify for LOGAIR, Military Airlift, or Air Taxi carriers. Has a thorough knowledge of 49 CFR(Hazardous Material Regulations of the Department of Transportation). Computes rates and routes for ammunition shipments. Tracks Pine Bluff Arsenal’s compliance with Department of the Army directives.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Technical Transportation of Hazardous Material (9E-F58/322-F37) certification within 6 months of Hire.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal service which includes: Classifying and routing shipments using established regulations and guidelines; Computing rates and routes for domestic shipments; Maintaining records of charges for shipments., and Operating Transportation Systems.
