This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. The incumbent serves as a Security Specialist within the Security Management Division, Business Support Services. The incumbent directly supports the senior Security Specialist who, in serving as the OPSEC Program Manager, is responsible for the Operations Security (OPSEC) program of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).

Duties
As a SECURITY SPECIALIST (OPSEC SPECIALIST), you will:
Participate in, navigate, and successfully evaluate and mitigate the risks of the application of new theories and developments to security problems and issues not amenable to treatment by accepted methods, technology, or procedures.
Assist NARA's OPSEC Program Manager in ensuring that NARA personnel and staff, including contractors and service providers involved in critical infrastructure, especially those directly involved in the handling or managing of Personal Identifiable Information (PII) of United States citizens, and information technologies, are engaged, informed and comply with the NARA OPSEC program.
Interpret relevant facts, considering appropriate policy, legislation and other factors, and draft appropriate reports in accordance with NARA policy.
Utilize, oversee, and ensure proper access to the use of automated systems in the processing, administering and managing of information, as well as for a wide variety of record keeping, correspondence and information tracking operations
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Using databases, reports and other sources to conduct detailed analysis of the current threat environment and/or OPSEC (Operations Security)-related threats potentially impacting government or corporate missions and operations;
AND
Collaborating with local, state and federal law enforcement, intelligence or other agencies to share information regarding enduring and emerging threat trends;
AND
Safeguarding and handling classified information and/or sensitive records, reports, information, materials or securities;
AND
Utilizing complex matrices, charts, graphs and formulas to conduct threat and risk analysis and drafting reports to include conclusions and recommendations.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.
