About the Position: This position is located with Evans Army Community Hospital at Fort Carson, Colorado.
Duties
Perform regular and modified salad preparation tasks such as making fruit and vegetable salads.
Prepare limited breakfast and short order items to include grilling or frying.
Assemble patient trays.
Set up and replenish salad bar according to established procedures.
Measure ingredients in accordance with instructions and directions provided.
Replenish food to service counters, steam tables, and side service stands with hot and cold foods.
Portion food items for regular and modified diets.
Maintain proper food safety and sanitation standards.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds may be required.
- This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
- This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties such as preparing and cooking a variety of simple menu items that require little or no processing; setting up and serving hot and/or cold food on cafeteria and patient tray lines adhering to portion control; following safety and sanitation procedures in food handling and in cleanup. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

Physical Effort: The work involves light to moderate physical effort with frequent lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 30 pounds. There is constant standing and walking, bending and stooping, and occasional lifting up to 45 pounds.
Working Conditions: Working areas are often uncomfortably warm and noisy. Incumbent is exposed to minor cuts, burns, bruises, and scalds. There is danger of slipping on floors which are wet from mopping and spilled liquids. Incumbent may be exposed to extreme temperatures of heat and cold from the hot kitchen to the refrigerated areas.
