You will serve as a PAINTER in the Ordnance Maintenance Division of NMCLANT ORDMAINT. THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain Department of Defense civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the Department of Defense.

Duties

You will use appropriate spraying, rolling, brushing and media blasting equipment, prepare and paint steel, iron, aluminum, and various alloys in overhaul and repair of request. You will apply various coating materials including lacquers, enamels, epoxies and polyurethanes so that the finished products free from skips, run, and drips You will prepare surface areas by media blasting, sanding, scraping, chipping, wire brushing, masking, priming, etc.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: *Set-up, operated, adjusted and maintain conventional paint booth, media blasting systems and mixer and shakers. *Interpreted specification and schematics. *Prepared paints with thinners, pigments and dryers to obtain appropriate consistency, color and drying time. *Prepared paint strips and stencil various types of items such as containers, canisters, wings and fins and other related material.
