About the Position: The DEVCOM Analysis Center (DAC) is comprised mostly of civilian science and engineering professionals. DAC's mission is to deliver objective analysis, experimentation, and data across the entire life cycle to ensure our Warfighters are ready today and in the future. DAC is one of eight science and technology domains within DEVCOM that serves 21 locations across the United States, including in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

Duties

Interpret laws, rules, and regulations in developing security program policies and procedures. Review reports of investigations, incidents, or unfavorable information and make recommendations to the Security Manager. Develop and/or implement policies and procedures for analyzing and evaluating the character, background, and history of persons to be granted access to classified or other sensitive information, materials, or work sites. Request security clearances and investigations using automated security systems. Develop and/or implement policies and procedures for safeguarding classified documents/information. Assist in performing damage assessment resulting from a compromise of classified or unclassified program information. Develop and maintain an OPSEC working group that remains abreast of security program initiatives, changes, and remediations. Review documents in order to protect critical organizational information. Conduct on-site compliance inspections for the organization to adhere to security controls and requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
  • Position requires Drug Testing prior to employment, and randomly thereafter.
  • Position requires annual completion of OGE-450 Financial Disclosure Statement.
  • Position requires the incumbent to obtain the following core Security Professional Education Development (SPed) certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
  • Occasional travel away from the Duty Station (TDY) may be required up to 20% of the time.

In order to qualify for this position, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience, which is defined as work that involves: 1) applying security methods used for safeguarding information, property, personnel, operations, and/or materials; and 2) reviewing reports of investigations, incidents, and/or unfavorable information to make recommendations for security clearance and/or access; and 3) utilizing personnel security automated databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DE-02 or GS-11). This position will be converting to a new Army Futures Command, Science and Technology Reinvention Laboratory (AFC STRL) Mod Demo Pay band DE-03 Category II. Pay range includes GS-12 step 01 thru GS-13 step 10 equivalency. Based on this conversion, qualifications will be assessed at the next lower grade level of the position in the new pay system, i.e., GS-11/DE-02 equivalent. The selectee will be notified when the position is transitioned into AFC STRL Mod Demo Pay band. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information SecurityOperations SecurityPersonnel Security and SafetySecurity Program Management
