The primary purpose of this position is to administer the Inspector General's Wing Inspection Team (WIT) program. Under leadership from the Director of Inspections, prepares and administers the inspection team program for Wing/Center (or equivalent). Supports the Inspection General in the development, review, and implementation, of standard operating procedures
Duties
Supplements to MAJCOM policies and practices to achieve maximum unit/installation readiness.
Responsible for evaluating Emergency Management and other required readiness programs.
Ensures WIT members are qualified and trained to evaluate all critical wartime functions in accordance with Air Force Instructions, higher headquarters guidance, and unit/installation plans.
Confers with host and tenant commanders on inspection requirements and matters that affect the overall readiness of forces; and develops Memoranda of Agreement as necessary
Works with federal, state, and local officials to coordinate inspections to evaluate joint emergency responses.
Directs multifaceted Wing Inspection Team pre-inspection activities. Organizes, trains, and oversees the inspection team in the execution of inspection activities.
Develops a wide range of strategies, guidelines, and procedures to conduct comprehensive conventional and non-conventional inspection programs comprised of substantial variety and scope.
Formulates the annual inspection schedule for Wing Inspection Team members.
Represents the Inspection General function in a variety of meetings, in working groups, and other situations, including emergency management personnel in surrounding communities.

- Work may require access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance

- This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
- The employee may be required to carry an electronic device (cellular phone/pager) to facilitate contact
- The employee must meet and maintain training requirements as outlined in applicable Department of Defense and Air Force regulations
- The work is mainly sedentary, but may require some travel, walking, standing, bending, and carrying of lightweight items.
- In addition to duties normally performed sitting at a desk, the work involves occasional visits to industrial, commercial, construction, and other establishment
- Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office. Exercises normal safety precautions.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes responsible for planning, implementation, oversight, and centralized control of a coordinated inspection. Develops and writes comprehensive supplements for conditions not directly addressed by existing standards or instructions. Compiles, organizes, and analyzes data. Reviews inspection reports, conducts inspections and exercises. Designs, reviews, and evaluates inspection activities. Wide range of complex inspection and/or compliance principles, concepts, and practices sufficient to conduct inspections, interpret complex policies/regulations, recognize, and resolve significant discrepancies and/or inconsistencies among findings. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of Department of Defense, Joint and Air Force inspection and compliance policies, instructions, and practices involved in the Air Force inspection programs; Air Force structure, mission, and programs; and instructions governing the organization's operations and plans programs.
Knowledge of Air Force programs, structure, mission requirements, vulnerabilities, operational and security policies, and the work processes/operations of assigned organizations.
Knowledge of analytical and evaluative techniques related to the identification, consideration, and resolution of difficult issues or problems concerning efficiency and effectiveness and program operations.
Skill in gathering, assembling, and analyzing facts, drawing conclusions, devising solutions to problems, and identifying changes and trends.
Skill in conducting interviews with supervisors, functional experts, and employees to obtain information about organizational missions, functions, interrelationships, and work procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, negotiate complex issues, provide training, and maintain good working relationships with others using tact, courtesy and diplomacy.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
