About the Position: This is a Pharmacist position located in Fort Wainwright, Alaska. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. This is a term position not to exceed 3 years. Position may be filled by temporary reassignment or promotion not to exceed 3 years. If are you a current federal Department of Defense employee, you may have return rights to your prior position.

Duties

Dispense pharmaceuticals to outpatients. Receive, read, and interpret prescriptions for outpatients written by medical generalists. Counsel patients regarding their prescribed medications. Compound, prepare, or select and label prescribed drugs and pharmaceuticals from available stocks to provide the required therapeutic agent. Plan and control stock replenishment and stock keeping. Assess equipment and supply needs in coordination with the officer-in-charge and programs purchases within budgetary constraints. Manage, administer, and oversee pharmacy operations within the health clinic.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Advanced in-hire may be authorized.
  • This position requires Credentialing.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position requires the incumbent to work on an on-call basis.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Pharmacist GS-11: Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Qualification: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, Ph.D., Pharm.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Exemption: You are exempt from the requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017, or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status. Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors
