This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Police Officers to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
incumbent serves as a Lead Police Officer assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations.
Responds to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
Lead Police Officers are directly responsible for three or more DACP Officers, Military Policeman (MP) and on some installation, DA Security Guards (DASG).
Conducts traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer.
Performs protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.
Operates the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data.
Operates motor vehicle which may involve high speed pursuit of suspects. Conducts investigative stops, questions, detains, and issues traffic citations as required.
Requirements

- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.

- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
- This position has a requirement to carry a firearm and remain proficient in the use of assigned weapon by qualifying semi-annually.
- This position requires the employee to complete and pass a physical agility test on an annual basis.
- This position has a requirement to obtain and maintain an Individual Reliability Program certification IAW AR 190-56.
- This position requires employee to wear a uniform that must be clean and possess a neat professional appearance.
