Duties

The incumbent may assist in maintaining routine reports and/or perform clerical, custodial and/or general maintenance duties as needed. May operate a point of sale system, receive payments and make change. The incumbent is involved in one or more recreational activities; athletics, fitness and sports programs; The incumbent provides oversight of activities and necessary services to authorized patrons, including general information on the use of equipment and providing information concerning facilities and their operation. Assignments may include: establishing schedules of events; applying rules and regulations in the supervision of participants in indoor and outdoor activities; setting up gymnasiums and playing fields for sports events. Demonstrates procedures common to the activities and instructs in the use of related equipment. Helps to program, plan and coordinate details of recreation activities and maintains related supplies. Assists in planning, scheduling and publicizing various activities to attract and motivate participants and in the coordination of championships in all sports through all levels. Ensures facilities are prepared for events. Provides input to supervisor on contractual performance levels. The incumbent ensures adherence to regulations and safety procedures.

Requirements

• Successful completion of National Agency Background (NACI) Check required.
• This position may require the incumbent to be available to work special events, weekends and holidays.
• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors under varied weather conditions.
• This position is required to do considerable standing, bending, stooping, walking, pushing, reaching, climbing and lifting of objects weighing up to 45 pounds unassisted.
• Completion of CPR, First Aid and AED training required within 90 days of appointment to position.

Qualifications

Must be a responsible individual with a pleasant, courteous attitude who can communicate effectively with the public. A neat and clean appearance required. Incumbent will need to quickly acquire a basic knowledge of the rules and practices of the equipment used. Will need to collect and accurately record cash transactions, and operate a cash register. Prior work history that demonstrates accountability in a customer service environment preferred Ability to use computer software and technology to stay current with industry standards. Ability to operate equipment inherent to field preparation for sports events such as field liners, ramps, rakes, etc. Knowledge acquired through direct experience enables the incumbent to independently and effectively carry out an established and continuing sports program through proper applications principles concepts, and techniques of recreation to the specific needs of the sports projects or programs available. Ability to guide sports activities of individuals and groups with varying degrees of athletic skill. .
