About the Position: Serves as the Aviation Operations Manager and performs aviation operational duties within of the Mission Support Office.
Duties
Responsible for all aviation activities carried out for the Northwest Division (NWD) and its property, such as, daily work and services performed using government and contracted resources.
Read and interpret informational items/publications to determine impact of administrative and aviation functions.
Develop information and prepares a variety of documents for use in briefings, staff papers, reports, and other administrative activities that require written and/or verbal communication.
Manage the aviation operation and maintenance contract, to include passenger flight requests, preparing and providing cost benefit analysis for flights, coordinates with contractor on the passenger scheduling and coordination of flights.
Review and make recommendations on DLA requirements for fuel procurement and coordinates usage in accordance with DLA polies and card holder responsibilities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
- Incumbent is required to obtain a Contractor Officer Representative (COR) Type B certification within one year of appointment, per the DoDI 5000.72.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience managing aviation operations such as scheduling, cost analyst preparation, fuel procurement; providing technical and administrative advice and guidance on aviation practices, safety, training, services, and maintenance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
