Human Resources Division, Arlington, VA The selectee of this position serves as a Occupational Health Specialist. You will be responsible for providing objectively based medical and program information for making decisions related to the administration of employee health programs.

Duties

As a Occupational Health Specialist at the GS-0601-13 level, some of your typical work assignments may include: Serves as a technical expert pertaining to the administration of USMS employee health programs Analyzes medical program performance against established metrics Articulates program guidance for all levels of USMS leadership and management and consults with medical staff external to USMS pertaining to program requirements and medical determinations Produces routine and/or ad hoc reports in a timely fashion Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in the Federal Workforce As the federal agency whose mission is to ensure the fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans, the Department of Justice is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. GS-13 TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 grade level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted). You may qualify at the GS-0601-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you possess BOTH the Basic Requirement AND Specialized Experience requirements outlined below: Basic Requirement: You must possess a Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited institution with a major in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences that is appropriate for the Occupational Health Specialist position. (Must submit transcripts.) AND Specialized Experience: In addition to the Basic Requirement above, to be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience below: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to: 1) Applying regulations and procedures to advise on or resolve health related matters dealing with employees that have job-related medical requirements; 2) Managing and reviewing medical cases within medical programs (e.g., medical standards); and 3) Analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of employee health programs. Possession of the following competencies: Medical and Health Standards: Uses knowledge of occupational health and medical standards to author policy; guide others in policy development and/or employing federal mandates related to medical standards. Manages and Organizes Information: Identifies a need; gathers, organizes, and maintains information, determines its importance and accuracy, and communicates it by a variety of methods. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Writing: Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material that is appropriate for the intended audience. Note: Subject matter experts will evaluate the first five pages of work experience in your resume based on these competencies. If you are qualifying with education and experience, your experience needs to demonstrate proficiency with the competencies identified above. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirements for one year of full-time graduate study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
