You will serve as a Senior Airworthiness Engineer in series including Interdisciplinary General Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Electronics Engineer, and/or Aerospace Engineer in the Airworthiness and CYBERSAFE Support Office NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.
Duties
You will support the Flight Clearance Team (FCT) Lead regarding the airworthiness and safety of flight assessments of all DON air vehicles.
You will be responsible for the development and execution of all existing and new plans, programs and processes pertaining to airworthiness.
You will plan and conduct the necessary engineering reviews to ensure Flight Clearance completeness, technical accuracy, and conformance to established policies and instructions.
You will assist leadership in developing and implementing new standards/policies/processes for Flight Clearances.
You will brief users on Airworthiness/Flight Clearance processes and policy and their relation to current aviation system projects in research, development, test and evaluation (RDT and E).

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band (DP-04) or grade level (GS-12/13) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Demonstrating working knowledge of the organizational composition and familiarity with the functional responsibility of ECH-2,3,4 Commands and Groups; 2) Demonstrating working knowledge of air vehicle, air system design, aircraft structures, electrical power, propulsion avionics, and/or software; 3) Effectively communicating complex technical issues both orally and in writing; 4) Applying system engineering approach to perform safety and hazard/risk assessments; 5) Demonstrating working knowledge of engineering technical disciplines required to determine the airworthiness of manned and/or unmanned aviation systems; and 6) Leading people with conflict goals and viewpoints to consensus.

Education
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)
OR
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
