About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) Police/Provost Marshal Office, Fort Myer, VA. It is within easy driving distance of Washington, D.C. national historical sites and parks. You can find shopping, schools, and churches in the area.
Duties
Enforce laws, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and Army Regulations to protect life and property.
Conduct investigations of certain felonies and all non-felony matters involving crimes against property or crimes against civilians, military and their dependents.
Collect evidence for use in investigations.
Conducts interviews to gather information or identify suspects.
Execute arrest and apprehension procedures.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a Top Secret security clearance.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must carry a firearm and successful complete semi-annual weapons qualification.
- Must attend and successfully complete the United States Army Military Police School, Military Investigator Course.
- This position requires successful completion of pre-employment and annual physical examinations.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position requires the employee to submit to pre-employment and random urinalysis exams and sign a DA Form 5019 drug testing position form.
- This position requires shift work to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level of GS-08, which includes 1) Conducting investigations into alleged or suspected violations of criminal laws and military regulations in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies; 2) Responding to crime scenes to collect and preserve evidence; and 3) Preparing case records to include investigation findings and recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
