This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is located at US Army Futures Command located Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. Army Futures Command is located in beautiful and historic San Antonio and is within easy commuting distance of desirable neighborhoods and excellent school systems.
Duties
Responsible for overseeing, integrating, and performing a broad range of analytical efforts in support of the organization’s mission.
Utilizes a knowledge of and working proficiency in operations research systems analysis (ORSA) concepts and practices to accomplish tasks that support cost effective decision making.
Supports problem decomposition, designs study methodology, develops models and simulations, and analyzes results to evaluate future concepts, required capabilities, and organizational designs.
Prepares supporting documentation and presents findings to senior leaders.

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst (1515):
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes; (1) Participate in/coordinate operational workgroups such as limited objective experiments, table top exercises, wargames and simulations to identify/evaluate findings; (2) Apply statistical, mathematical, and data processing methods and techniques to devise solutions to operational force development questions; and (3) Utilize experimental design and/or problem decomposition to develop data analysis plans.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
