You will serve as the Deputy Materiel Officer for Submarine Readiness Squadron Three Six (SRS-36), Kings Bay, GA.

Duties

You will oversee and carry out the TRIDENT Maintenance Plan in accomplishing all maintenance. You will be responsible for coordinating the repair and maintenance of assigned units to include screening and prioritization of work requests, Ship Alteration (SHIPALT) and Planned Maintenance Requirements for the Fleet Maintenance Activity (FMA). You will coordinate all pier de-confliction (special berthing requirements, weapons/ships movements, etc.). You will monitor costs to manpower as well as assigned mission considerations. You will monitor the weekly pier de-confliction/ Port Operations meetings and provide weekly updates to the pier loading plan. You will be responsible to ensure all required planned maintenance requirements (PMR’s) are integrated into the refit work package. You will be responsible to develop and integrate the work required during the Engineered Refueling Overhauls (EROs) scheduled for the units assigned to Kings Bay as they enter the Depot Level overhauls at the required periodicity. You will be responsible to integrate the required maintenance actions including PMR’s, alterations and upgrades required for the SSGN's entering Major Modernization Periods (MMP' S). You will be responsible to plan, develop, and maintain short and long-range refit maintenance schedules within the current constraints of financial resources and time available. You will be responsible to chair/attend all refit-planning meetings as required by the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) including FMA daily production meetings. You will be responsible to review all ship Consolidated Ship’s Maintenance Plans (CSMPs). You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates by setting and adjusting priorities, including developing long range refit, and dry-docking schedules. You will be an immediate supervisor to one Quality Assurance Specialist (GS-1910-12), four enlisted personnel (E-7/GS-06 equivalent), and two contractors (GS-12 equivalent). You will evaluate work performance of both military and civilian subordinates, as required by the Navy and or civilian employee guidelines.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a “Key” position. In the event of a crisis situation, the employee must continue to perform assigned duties to support mission requirements until relieved by proper authority.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying knowledge of TRIDENT Nuclear Quality Assurance and Submarine Safety Certification (SUBSAFE) programs to identify and track all outstanding depot level work. Experience applying extensive technical knowledge and experience in all submarine systems. Experience coordinating the repair and maintenance of submarines which requires knowledge of the nature and uses of materials involved in preparing/ refurbishing submarine systems and components. Experience and knowledge of the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) and the integration of the Ohio Class Maintenance plan concerning refit planning and execution with particular emphasis on (ISIC) responsibilities. Experience and knowledge of U.S. Navy specifications and regulations pertaining to design, maintenance, safety, and operation of assigned equipment/systems. Experience and knowledge of automated information system concepts, system capabilities, and economic usage to effectively complete assignments. Experience and knowledge of the complex nature/operations of submarine repairs/refurbishments. Experience and comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of numerous industrial production principles, manufacturing processes, manpower estimating principles, practices, organization, and equipment. Experience and knowledge of submarine configuration and technical knowledge of component parts and systems to assist in the evaluation of special equipment, load out equipment or TEMPMOD configuration compatibility. Experience, knowledge and skill to work with a background of several related disciplines, such as mechanical, structural, and electrical planning: logistics supply management: and material receipt and storage requirements.
