Duties

Monitors the preparation and completion of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analyses and associated documentation throughout the Region. Conducts environmental studies and evaluations concerning a variety of resources, such as social-economic, land, air, water, wildlife, fisheries, and/or additional special areas. Develops and participates in the execution of effective interagency coordination and public involvement and information programs for the purpose of assuring compliance with NEPA and other environmental requirements. Leads and participates as a member of interdisciplinary teams for the purpose of providing environmental compliance expertise, conducting environmental analyses , and determining the applicability of and assuring compliance with environmental laws.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing 3 of the 4 following duties: (1) Interpreting National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) laws, regulations, policies, and guidance for specific land and resource management programs and projects; (2) Providing technical direction to ensure environmental compliance; (3) Directing the activities of natural resource professionals by establishing work schedules and priorities; (4) Providing input for policies for the purpose of assuring environmental requirements are appropriately integrated with activities which affect land and water resources. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies". You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 03/20/2024.
