You will serve as a AVIATION LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS REPAIRER in the PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT, COMPONENTS MAINTENANCE DIVISION, COMPONENT/MAINTENANCE OFFICER, POINT MUGU DETACHMENT of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST DET.

Duties

You will inspect all Aviation Life Support assemblies and components to determine repair, modification technical directive compliance, and replacement necessary to restore items to original equipment manufacturer condition. You will unpack, inspect and repair or replace defective subassemblies of personnel parachutes, aircraft deceleration, and target recovery parachutes in accordance with current instructions. You will disassemble parachute automatic actuators, test for proper firing, with the use of actuator test chamber, and reassemble per instructions/directives. You will record and enter remarks on maintenance performed on Parachute History Record. You will repair, modify, update and maintain inflatable flotation equipment. You will test and check aircrew issued personal anti exposure suits and other survival equipment authorized for use by the U.S. Navy. You will test, check and repair flight clothing Anti-G suits, flight suits, harnesses and helmets. You will test and operate Carbon Dioxide transfer system. You will issue and inspect flight clothing/equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position may require working in small and or confined spaces
  • This position may require the ability to climb ladders and scaffolding
  • This position may require the ability to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 70 pounds in weight.
