You will serve as a HEALTH PROMOTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF) in the HQ SEMPER FIT DIVISION of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON. ***This Job Opportunity Announcement is using an additional online assessment tool to evaluate applicants. Please review the HOW TO APPLY section below for instructions.***

Duties

You will develop training schedule to support the needs of the unit(s) and engages in outreach efforts to support the command. You will conduct group psychoeducation to build skills to promote protective factors. You will collaborate with other prevention and counseling personnel to ensure initiatives are complementary and Marines have easy access to services. You will develop and distribute informational materials needed to support classes and groups provided in conjunction with other staff and leadership activities. You will recommend efficiencies in the development of and delivery of primary prevention.

Requirements

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Broad working knowledge of the various staff activities (SJA, Chaplain's Office, Social Workers and Public Welfare Agencies), is required in order to determine eligibility of aid and the agency having jurisdiction for the type and/or kind of aid required. 2) Maintain familiarity with the programs and services in Marine and Family Programs and beyond that may benefit Marines with whom they interact. 3) Works as part of a team with other professionals to help prevent suicide, sexual assault, sexual harassment, domestic abuse, child abuse, and other problematic behaviors. 4) Conducts group psychoeducation to build skills to promote protective factors. Incumbent does not provide medical or non-medical clinical services. Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:
  • Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position; or
  • Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field; or
  • Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

  • 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree; or
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
