You will serve as an Office Automation Assistant in the Aerospace Electronic Warfare, Code 573000 of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY. Duties

You will provide clerical and administrative support to the Aerospace Electronic Warfare Systems Branch. You will receive and refer telephone calls and visitors; escort visitors and relay messages; and help prepare for and organize meetings. You will prepare travel orders, visit requests, overtime/comptime requests, personnel action requests, shipping and receiving documents, travel claims and any other documents required to perform branch operations. You will prepare coherent and focused business correspondence, forms, reports, and similar material involving specialized terminology with proper English usage in conformance with Navy official correspondence standards. You will select, rearrange, and consolidate data from a number of source documents based on general instructions. You will be a government credit card holder and become knowledgeable in procurement policies and regulations.

Qualifications

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band (NC-01) or grade level (GS-04) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: (1) Interpreting and applying correspondence rules to support operations; (2) Locating and assembling information for various reports and briefings; (3) Operating office automation equipment and software; and (4) Providing assistance to callers and visitors to the organization for non-technical issues. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
  • Successfully completed four years course of study leading to a bachelor's degree; OR
  • A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience is sufficient for meeting the minimum qualification requirements for this position.
