Duties

This position will allow you to use your expertise in administration to provide advisory and technical services to CBP management. As a Mission Support Specialist (Generalist), you will strengthen the Department's ability to protect the homeland by becoming a valuable member of a team of administrative professionals. Typical work assignments include: Identifying, evaluating and recommending to management appropriate interventions to resolve complex and interrelated problems and issues related to finance. Performing tasks associated with creating requisitions and purchase orders to ensure budget approvals. Overseeing expenditures to ensure allocations, commitments, and expenditures are projected and spent accordingly. Assisting with developing and recommending solutions to a range of logistic operations and technical issues to evaluate and improve services and processes.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Implementing policies relating to staffing and position management affecting administrative programs; Managing fleet program to include ordering, receiving, inventorying, transferring and excessing of fleet vehicles; Performing budget analysis to analyze historical data, current spending and future estimates and trends; Preparing reports with data from internal data sources as well as automated systems for regular and one-time informational needs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 03/13/2024.
