Duties

As a Fuel Distribution System Worker, you will be responsible for the following: Dispenses fuel to rotary and fixed-wing aircraft. Operates automated fuel storage/dispensing system and 3,000 gallon fuel tanker for fuel dispensing. Performs operator maintenance on fuel systems and equipment. Drives Follow-Me vehicle to designated taxiway and stands by for landing aircraft. Meets and directs incoming aircraft (fixed and/or rotary wing) to designated parking area by using hand signals. Performs facilities and grounds maintenance, such as lawn mowing, shoveling snow, trimming weeds, etc.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must obtain and maintain (within 1 year) a Class A Commercial Driver's license (CDL) to operate 3,000 gallon fuel tanker. The following endorsements are required on the CDL: Tanker, Air Brakes, Hazardous Materials.
  • Must be able to pass an Accident Avoidance Course or Defensive Drivers Course.
  • Duties may require working on rotating shifts to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays and in other situations.
  • Exerts light to moderate physical effort. Work requires considerable standing, walking, bending, working in cramped conditions and climbing on tankers. May be subject to high levels of noise from various aircraft.
  • Performs work outside in all kinds of weather. Uses safety equipment and precautions to avoid injury from fumes, flames and explosions or to avoid slipping or falling from tankers. Subject to uncommon tours of duty (e.g. after hours).

Operate large vehicles or heavy equipment (gross vehicle weight rating greater than 26,000 pounds) used for transporting materials/supplies/equipment. Conduct preventive maintenance checks and perform operator maintenance on vehicles/equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
