Data Processing Center
The following are the duties of this position at the full working level:
Responsible for processing complex technical transactions within the Data Processing Center. Performs a full range of clerical, technical and administrative assistance. Conducts research and gathers factual information and makes recommendations to resolve discrepancies based on interpretation of applicable regulations and procedures.
Performs specific tasks and job imaging techniques to include software usage and selection and integration of software programs into one document. Operates a variety of scanners, industrial grade, medium level, flatbed and hand-held in order to scan loose-leaf paper, oversized, bound, non-paper and fragile documents. Determines the best scanner, scanner settings and which of several scanning software suites to use to yield the best results as evidence for court use.
Gathers information and puts it into format for special agents to use in court for cases involving nationwide projects, i.e., Identity Theft, Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, and Frivolous Return Anti-Government. Projects involve examining many types of documents and extracting non-explicit information through comparison of documents. Collects data for various reports; extracts data from prescribed sources.
Prepares varied evidence documents received from special agents by using the advanced functions of word processing, and other software types. Incorporates data from diverse sources and converts the information/evidence into a format compatible with the software being used for the end produc
Qualifications
Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. BASIC REQUIREMENT :
In addition to meeting the basic requirement, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute (based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors). For this position, you may be asked to participate in a performance test, present a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying your proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for three years. We may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test at a later step in the process.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: experience in operating a variety of office automation equipment, such as keyboards, personal computers, printers, and/or scanners; experience in office software such as databases, word processing, and/or spreadsheets, etc., where the accuracy of work is critical; and experience in meeting and dealing courteously and tactfully with team members and/or customers.
