About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Research and Development Center (ERDC), Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL)
This position is being filled as a Branch Support Assistant DK-3 (GS-6/7).
Duties
Provides customer service and communicate clearly and interact collegially via face-to-face, telephone, email, and other modes of communication.
Provides clerical support using office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
Organizes and prepares approval material for processes such as conferences, official correspondence, training, domestic, and foreign travel as required.
Responds to phone, fax, email, and other correspondence. You will prepare, process, and post travel orders, government vehicle requests, and travel orders and vouchers for branch staff.
Verifies time and attendance using the automated financial system such as Corps of Engineers Financial Management System (CEFMS), ensuring availability of funds and accurate timekeeping and leave reporting by staff.
Maintains leave, travel, and telework status of all branch members on a shared calendar.
Maintains branch files, both hardcopy and electronic, as required by applicable regulations.
Coordinates scheduling for meetings, such as performance review meetings between the supervisor and employees.
Provides completion tracking for branch employees' responses to data calls or mandatory training requirements.
Provides onboarding support to the Branch Chief for new employees joining the branch.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Utilizing digital means to track the status of people or items such as: inventory, training, timekeeping; Preparing and/or maintaining documentation in accordance with applicable regulations; and Providing various forms of communication to customers in regards to items such as: training, travel or conferences.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DK-02 (GS-05).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent DK-02 (GS-05).

For ERDC Lab Demo positions: This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DK-03 (equivalent to GS-06/07) grade level. In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, Laboratory Demonstration Project employees must have a current average performance score of at least 2.5 or equivalent (fully successful rating) for promotion consideration.
Education
