This position is located within the Owyhee Service Unit, located in Elko, NV. The BHC will provide direct clinical social work services and counseling for suicide prevention, substance use disorders, referrals and will provide substance abuse case consultation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling, and referral and aftercare services for referred patients.
Duties
Service as a core member of the health care team within primary or specialty care clinics.
Primary job functions include engagement and relationship building, assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic interventions, interdisciplinary coordination, coordinating discharge plans, and monitoring referrals. Secondary function is to assists with resource location and advocating for benefits.
Interventions include motivational enhancement counseling, adjustment to illness, treatment adherence issues, behavior modifications, stress management and psycho-education.
Incumbent will provide clinical case consultation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling, referral, and aftercare for substance use disorder treatments or interventions.
Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Degree: Social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications and Selective Placement Factor stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-12:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples Include: Professional knowledge of social work to provide a variety of treatment modalities and their application including individual, family, psychotherapy and case consultation; Knowledge and specialized experience in using the Diagnostic System of Mental Health Disorders (DSM); Competence with DSM for differential diagnosis and treatment planning; Knowledge of psychological principles and processes, and psychotropic medications; and Ability to perform extensive research and evaluation.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: Applicants who do not meet a selective factor are ineligible for further consideration. This position requires a current, unrestricted U.S. State license as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC), or a Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW). Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
