This position is part of the WAPA-RMR-Rocky Mountain Region. As a Field Maintenance Manager, you will serve as Field Maintenance Manager in the Montrose, Colorado area over the electric substation facilities and and transmission lines maintenance mission. **This is not a remote position. The selectee will be required to be physically present at the Montrose, Colorado duty location.**

Qualifications

Qualification requirements in the vacancy announcements are based on the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook, which contains federal qualification standards. This handbook is available on the Office of Personnel Management's website located at: https://www.opm.gov/policy. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. To qualify for the GS-13:Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience that demonstrates their ability to perform the work of a Field Maintenance Manager at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service. This experience includes: Operation and maintenance or engineering and construction of a high voltage electric power transmission system sufficient to implement a replacement and rehabilitation program. Managing facility upgrades, organizing maintenance and construction activities, and recommending solutions. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is mainly sedentary, but may require some walking in offices, production areas, utility plants, facilities, and work areas. Some employees may carry light items such as briefcases, notebooks, workpapers, and test equipment or drive a motor vehicle. The work does not require any special physical effort or ability. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work area is usually an office setting that is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The employee may occasionally be exposed to uncomfortable conditions in maintenance, transmission, substation facilities, or varying temperatures and climate when visiting outdoor locations related to the transmission mission.
