Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. You'll serve as a Plumber (Fire Sprinkler) in the PRODUCTION DIV, PWD Norfolk, VA, NAVFAC MIDLANT.

Duties

You will perform main drain tests on all water-based suppression systems. You will inspect fire pumps and fire pump system components for damage and visually apparent operation deficiencies or impairments. You will visually inspect for external damage and operational deficiencies, wet and dry pipe system components. You will respond to all levels of trouble calls. You will maintain special hazard foam suppression systems including flushing lubricating and adjusting control valves, piping and nozzles. You will maintain and replace fire pumping systems. You will maintain and install sprinkler systems.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain local licensure required for a Fire Sprinkler Mechanic.
  • NAVFAC MID-LANT is a regionalized command. The incumbent serving in this position may at any time be assigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is Ability to do the work of a Plumber (Fire Sprinkler) without more than normal supervision, which includes: 1) Maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, repairing fire sprinkler systems in accordance with local regulations and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) instructions; 2) Using blueprints, sketches, and specifications to detect malfunctions and complete assignments; and 3) Using practical mathematics to make calculations, such as pipe size, area of coverage, and flow rate.NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position.
