The primary purpose of the position is to operate one or more motor vehicles, which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 pounds and up to 32,000 pounds. The vehicles operated by this position meet the definition of a commercial motor vehicle, and the incumbent of the position is required to have a commercial driver's license (CDL). This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is subject to pre-employment testing.

Duties

The major duties of the Motor Vehicle Operator, WG-5703-07, position include, but are not limited to, the following: Operates one or more motor vehicles which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 pounds and up to 32,000 pounds. Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance of equipment. Performs manual labor tasks, such as digging, pulling, cleaning drainage ditches. Performs lifting, emptying trash containers, picking up litter, and cleaning rest rooms. Works roads and trails in connection with raking and graveling.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability to Obtain and maintain CDL B within 6 months of entry on duty. (SCREEN OUT) Operation of Motor Vehicles. Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) * Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.
