As a Maintenance Worker, you will perform simple work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, buildings, and related utilities at the Colonial National Historical Park.

Duties

Provide janitorial and cleaning services to public buildings, such as visitor centers, office spaces, historic structures, and comfort stations Operate riding and push mowers, string trimmers, and other hand and power tools to perform grounds care and landscaping in developed areas Perform minor plumbing repairs, carpentry, and painting Assist higher graded employees with maintenance tasks

Requirements

• You must be a U.S. citizen or national.
• All requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
• A one year probationary period may be required.
• You are required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
• Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication
• Occasional overtime may be required.
• A valid state driver's license is required.
• You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.

Qualifications

In order to be qualified for this position, you must possess the ability to do the work of the position with checks of tasks in progress by a supervisor or lead. Your experience includes using hand tools such as saws, hammers, and screwdrivers and following specific directions and templates to make repairs to or replace parts on wooden structures like doors, benches, or kiosks; painting structures using brushes and rollers; replacing plumbing fixtures or fittings with in-kind parts; and using hand and power tools to maintain landscaping/grounds.
