The Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM) develops and manages medical programs in support of Aviation Safety. The Medical Record Technician provides support of the day-to-day operations of the Aerospace Medical Certification Division (AMCD) by performing basic and routine tasks. The position typically supports the work of other employees and contributes to the activities and mission of the AMCD.

Duties

Serves as a Medical Records Technician with the responsibility to provide support of the day-to-day operations of the Aerospace Medical Certification Division (AMCD) by performing basic and routine tasks such as receiving and processing incoming mail (mostly medical records) under the general direction of a manager, supervisor, team leader, or more experienced employee.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify at the FV-E (FG/GS-7/8) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-D (FG/GS 3 - 6) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes: Experience with medical terminology and experience with computer software programs to prepare correspondence and tracking documents (i.e., Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel).Applicant should include examples of specialized experience in their Work History.ANDQuality Ranking Factor (QRF): Well qualified applicants will demonstrate experience compiling and reviewing medical documents and/or legal files in their resume.
