About the position: This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation/ Rec Lodging Facility onboard Arnold Village and surrounding areas. This position is Flexible, with no guaranteed minimum hours (meaning you could work between 0-40 hours per week based on facility need) and no standard benefits. This position is subject to irregular tour of duty to include evenings, weekends and Holidays. This position works both indoor and outdoor in all weather conditions.

Duties

The purpose of this position is to perform heavy laboring tasks which require significant manual skill and very heavy physical effort to operate equipment as necessary to Maintain Outdoor Recreation facilities and/or Golf Course grounds. May operate field-type tractors with attachments, heavy complex riding mowers and similar type of specialized mowing equipment (e.g. multiple and independently controlled cutting decks, single function components) and/ or specially designed riding mowers hat operate on slopes and require constant attention to working space and environment. Operates various controls and levers to maneuver equipment and lift, lower, adjust, engage, and disengage components or attached devices when working around: trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides, trenches, slopes, curbs, rocks and other visible obstacles. Observes all safety rules and regulations pertaining to vehicle operations. Determines and selects the most appropriate type of equipment to accomplish each phase of work in the most productive and cost-efficient manner. Completes all aspects of special assignments involving several steps, phases or detailed procedures (e.g., preparing ground, laying sod, planting flowers or shrubs and using simple drawings to establish a planting pattern and/or design). Performs operator maintenance on equipment. Excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools, fills and levels holes in damaged roads with concrete, gravel and/or asphalt, may install forms and lay walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes, repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems, and may be asked to operate dump trucks or other equipment. Uses a variety of hand tools such as pry bars, hammers, cutters, pliers, and wrenches in performing simple repair work and/or assisting others in more complex/difficult tasks. Loads and unloads full trash bags, bulky supplies, furniture and materials. Moves trash cans, picks up debris from Greens/park areas. Uses a government computer for training requirements, time and attendance and for other job related duties. Maintains a daily safety log on all assigned equipment. Requirements

Qualifying Experience: Must have experience which demonstrates knowledge of large complex riding mowers and similar type of specialized mowing equipment, skill in operating various controls and levers to maneuver equipment and lift, lower, adjust, engage and disengage component or attached devices. Skill in controlling and maneuvering large complex mowing equipment, ability to independently complete assignments involving several steps, phases or procedures. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
