This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Base Seattle, Facilities Engineering Department, Environmental Branch in Seattle, WA.

Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to work within the large quantity Generator Hazardous Waste Accumulation Site and the Hazardous Materials Minimization Center (HazMinCen) to ensure compliance with all Coast Guard, State, Federal and local regulations. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.  Typical work assignments include:                     

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element). Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order). Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic). Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (other than blueprints). Knowledge of Materials. Dexterity and Safety. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
