You will serve as an Electroplater Leader (Expert) in the Production Resources Department of DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY. You will serve as an Expert Mechanic in the Electroplater trade leading a group to ensure assignments are completed.

Duties

You will serve as the subject matter expert in the trade and strives to improve trade processes, inspect work, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective actions. You will exercise leadership skills to mentor, train, and instruct trade three or more trade employees at various levels in the performance of wide range functions within the Electroplater trade. You will ensure that needed work permits, system tag outs, work instructions, drawings, material, and special tooling are on the job site when needed. You will be knowledgeable of the latest work processes and procedures and ensures that they are followed. You will resolve minor to complex electroplating problems as well as non-electroplating related problems as needed. You will accomplish routine inspection of work in progress and ensures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in shops and onboard ships and requires the ability to climb ladders and stairs, bend, pull, reach and work in cramped spaces.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require rotating shift work.
  • This position may require exposure to high noise levels.
