The primary purpose of this position is to be the Logistics Management Specialist executes and ensures the efficient, effective flow and storage of goods, services and related information from their point of origin to point of consumption for the purpose of satisfying customer requirements. Duties

Participates in logistics management administration. Maintains media, equipment and supplies for a warehousing facility of 2,660 square feet. Uses a variety of computer software and printing equipment to produce assorted written documents and reports. Act as alternate Vehicle custodian and fleet service liaison for United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) Admissions. Operates gasoline, diesel or electronic powered vehicles (pick-up, 1 1/2 ton delivery or similar truck) to include forklifts.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions for Logistics Management Series, 0346. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of the basic principles, concepts, techniques, procedures, and operations of Air Force Academy and Admissions office. Knowledge of the organization's operations and functions sufficient to evaluate information gathered from various sources and use basic analytical methods and techniques to determine adequacy of, or deficiencies in the directorate. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations, retrieve and input data, and maintain accurate files. OR EDUCATION: One full academic year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position; or I have a bachelor's degree in education or a subject area related to the position and am claiming Superior Academic Achievement. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of basic principles, concepts, and practices of logistics management (supply and equipment purchasing, warehousing, product shipping, and receiving procedures). Knowledge of customer service protocol in order to serve a wide variety of customers while maintaining a cordial working attitude. Knowledge of vehicle control duties and basic fleet management principles and practices. Skill in operating various mailroom equipment. Ability to interpret and apply directives, regulations, instructions, policies and procedures from a variety of sources (GSA, Air Force, United States Postal Service (USPS), etc.), to effectively execute postal and logistics mission. Ability to effectively use office automation equipment and software to produce a variety of documents and reports, communicate with vendors and customers. Ability to operate a 1 1/2 ton truck and a forklift. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
