Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Intelligence, National Border Security Intelligence Center Directorate, Great Lakes Regional Intelligence Center, located in one of the following locations: Selfridge ANG Base, MI Chicago, IL Salary: Salary listed reflects the rest of U.S. scale and will be adjusted to meet the locality pay or cost of living expenses of the duty location upon selection.

Duties

The mission of the Office of Intelligence is to obtain, analyze, and timely disseminate intelligence that contributes to the primary CBP mission of detecting, identifying, and preventing terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the United States. This position starts at a salary of $122,198.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $158,860.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $158,860.00 (GS-14 Step 10). As a Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist, you will serve as Branch Chief providing supervision and direction for the activities of Intelligence Research Specialists, as well as administrative and technical support personnel. Major duties include but are not limited to: Providing management over workforce in collecting, analyzing, interpreting, evaluating and dissemination of all-source information and intelligence to inform operations and decision making. Monitoring the work to be accomplished by setting priorities and preparing schedules for completion. Directing the utilization of personnel through sound position management practices and directing the proper utilization of assigned facilities and other resources. Assigning work based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and the requirement of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Coordinating intelligence efforts and sharing information with other personnel within the intelligence and enforcement communities. Handling sensitive law enforcement and national security issues; planning, organizing, administering, and coordinating intelligence activities. Resolving problems related to planning and directing the collection, analysis, and reporting of intelligence information. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 03/11/2024. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
