The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a member of a multidisciplinary Integrated Operational Support (IOS) team directly supporting the Line of the Air Force (LAF) mission assigned Base Operational Support Team program with the goal of building resiliency, enhancing human performance and improving unit mission effectiveness.

Duties

Plans, coordinates, markets, and conducts evidence-based IOS services aimed at increasing squadron/unit psychological and musculoskeletal resilience, and reducing military occupation related injuries. Oversees and evaluates unit and mission effectiveness. Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the IOS team ensuring the strength and conditioning and mental health activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Other duties as assigned consistent with applicable licensure/privileging activities.

  • At a minimum, qualification requirements stipulated by the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for the 0601 occupational series must be met
  • A Master's degree in health sciences or other closely related field is highly desired
  • Demonstrated sustained experience working in human performance with a minimum of 5 years of aggregate professional experience specific to military environments is highly desired
  • Required to participate in initial and on-going IOS training, continuing education, workshops, lectures, and seminars to maintain required certifications and program requirements as provided by the 711th HPW OST or assigned IOS program
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours to support non-duty hour classes and events
  • May be required to possess a valid operator's license in order to drive a motor vehicle to and from work sites
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, and Professional and Scientific Positions, General Health Science Series 0601 + IOR. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes professional knowledge of a wide range of concepts, principles, or methodologies of health sciences to plan, coordinate, conduct and integrate evidence-based Integrated Operational Support (IOS) programs, including project development and execution, training, analytical evaluation, and advisory services. Professional knowledge of methods and processes to perform highly specialized assignments of an advanced nature and difficulty involving in-depth needs assessments and workplace assessments to integrate evidence-based Integrated Operational Support (IOS) interventions. Knowledge of operations and culture and the unique stressors placed upon personnel in an operational workplace. ***** NOTE: This same experience must be well-described in the application/resume that you complete and submit in addition to answering this questionnaire AND YOU MUST submit a copy of official transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Professional knowledge of a wide range of concepts, principles, or methodologies of health sciences in order to plan and integrate the IOS program including project development and execution, training, analytical evaluation, and advisory services. Knowledge of military organization, populations, and culture, and the unique stressors placed upon workers in an operational military workplace. Knowledge of the program planning process and evidence-based methods to mitigate risks and stressors in occupational workplaces. Skill in conducting research, anticipating changes and new developments, developing unit plans, evaluating effectiveness, coordinating work, and reviewing technical reports. Skill in collecting data, conducting substantial problem analysis and program evaluation to identify adverse trends, ineffective practices or procedures, and shortcomings; performing data analysis and developing presentations using current information technology and computers effectively; and communicating results orally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small organization. Maintaining any applicable licensure/privileging and required activities. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
