Duties
As a senior warehouse worker, the Distribution Process Worker (DPW) performs a wide range of duties encompassing the full spectrum of warehouse functions.
Receives, stores, selects, and ships materials based on an in-depth knowledge of overall warehouse plans, documentation requirements, established warehouse methods, procedures and techniques.
Performs distribution functions related to the physical verification of material, receives, stores, issues, and the moves material into, within and out of the storage activity.
Uses automated equipment such as computer terminals, bar code wands, and/or laser scanning equipment to read, store, query, route and track data.
Uses material handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts, high-rise platform lifts, trucks and other general purpose vehicles.

Qualifications
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is:
Ability to do the work of a Materials Handler (Forklift Operator) without more than normal supervision: perform the common tasks of the job to be filled but under close supervision, such as such as handle materials; regularly carry weights up to 44 pounds unassisted; occasionally handles weights up to 60 pounds; operate power and hand tools and have the ability to measure materials.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Effort:
Work requires standing on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. Requires active physical effort including extensive walking, bending, stooping, and pushing and pulling of heavy material, working in tiring and uncomfortable positions, many times all at the same time. Regularly handles weights of up to 40 pounds unassisted. Occasionally handles weights up to 60 pounds. Uses weight
handling equipment or receives assistance from other workers for items heavier than 60 pounds. Work requires light to moderate physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls while driving, raising, lowering, and tilting MHE.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed within a warehousing environment. Duties are performed inside or outside in areas that are hot, cold or damp. Work environment is subject to dusty, dirty or greasy conditions. Individual is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls and injuries from falling items. Subject to hazards of working close to moving equipment, trucks, and
conveyor lines. Required to utilize appropriate protective clothing and equipment in accordance with job requirements where possible hazardous conditions exist.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: Retention in this position requires the incumbent to acquire and maintain appropriate license/certification
to operate a variety of materials handling equipment.
