This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Position for an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1358000 and is a part of the 169 MXS, South Carolina Air National Guard.
Duties
The purpose of this position is to serve as shop chief over a small organizational segment in a maintenance function with responsibility for the overall shop operation. One or more employees who perform work in the Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-10, occupation are assigned to the shop.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Qualifications
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC):
Open to Areas 1 ONLY
Area 1: Current Permanent On-Board dual status technicians employed with the SC Air National Guard. (Does not include temporary and indefinite technicians or AGR).
Area 2: Current military members of the SC Air National Guard.
Area 3: Current nationwide Air National Guard military members, AF Reserve military members, and RegAF. (Must be willing to transfer to the SC Air National Guard).
Min/Max Military Grades: TSgt/E-6, MSgt/E-7
Compatible Military Assignments: 2A353
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To be rated qualified for this position your resume must show definitively at least 18months experience in the following- performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Military skill set is determined by AFSC requirements. Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC.
