You will serve as a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Material Sourcing Branch (Code 520.1) in the Material Sourcing Division (Code 520) for the Supply Department (Code 500) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will manage the tracking and status of standard and non-standard Job Material Lists (JMLs).
You will provide JML support for projects teams and hand-off to Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Land Maritime for requisition requirement sourcing.
You will ensure that a complete and correct purchase-ready JML procurement package is submitted to DLA Land Maritime to avoid delays in the actual purchasing of material
You will support the DLA Land Maritime vendor identification process for detailed research on potential vendors to understand specific material requirements.
You will maintain quality control and consistency of all material ordering documents, to include investigating and resolving problems within the material ordering process.
You will ensure that non-standard or urgent material JMLs are processed correctly and in a timely manner.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience resolving material availability shortages and other material list issues, through communication (email, in person, MS Teams, or phone calls) with Engineering, Production, Defense Logistics Agency, Project Material Managers, and project leadership.
Experience communicating and coordinating with Engineering, Production, Defense Logistics Agency, NAVSUP, Work Packaging and Control, and Quality Assurance Department to ensure non-standard or urgent materials procurements are processed with timeliness and first-time quality.
Experience following policies, and contributing to policy input; Being consistent for every purchase package and ensuring that all technical and logistical date is correct, and all supporting documentation is included prior to going to Defense Logistics Agency for purchase.
Experience supporting project's technical authority with determining if material should be fabricated in the shipyard or procured from an external vendor.
