You will serve as a SECRETARY (OFFICE AUTOMATION) in the COLUMBIA CONSTRUCTION DIVISION of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING GROTON (SUPSHIP).
Duties
You will apply comprehensive knowledge of office automation software, practices and procedures, to the performance of general office support work.
You will ensure correspondence (memoranda, letters, reports, instructions) is completed accurately and accomplished in a timely manner in accordance with the Navy Correspondence Manual and SUPSHIP policies.
You will generate correspondence electronically, utilizing word-processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics and flow charting software.
You will scan and send or store Department correspondence, and generate letter correspondence for distribution.
You will apply desk-top publishing skills to the generation of reports and instructions.
You will adapt and innovate existing practices to resolve operating problems or develop more efficient processing procedures.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing administrative or secretarial support functions to include preparation of correspondence or reports, use of software applications to accomplish tasks, document handling and tracking, or appointment and meeting scheduling in an office setting.
