You will serve as a Hazardous Cargo Shipment Inspector (MVO/FLO) of NAVAL AIR TERMINAL.

Duties

You will inspect hazardous materials, explosives, ammunition, special cargo documentation and packaging in accordance with applicable DOD, AF, AMC and civilian directives. You will perform comprehensive inventories ensuring the protection of resources and executes a broad range of specific storage assignments as directed by Navy, AF and civilian directives. You will perform tasks involved in receiving and shipping items. You will drive one or more types of vehicles/equipment, such as pickups, vans, forklifts, flatbed trucks, and aircraft cargo loaders, which typically have a gross vehicle weight up to 126,000 pounds. You will utilize safety practices and procedures, complies with established safety rules and regulations, and maintains a safe, clean, and secure work environment.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Hazardous Materials Inspector certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) performing comprehensive inventories ensuring the protection of resources and executes a broad range of specific storage assignments as directed by Navy, AF, and Civilian directives. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
