This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Quality Management Division. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing solutions and systems to resolve quality assurance problems associated with the manufacturing and processing of U.S. currency and miscellaneous products. The incumbent will execute and document internal and external quality system or process audits.
Duties
As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will:
Plan, schedule, and conduct internal quality audit of BEP manufacturing and support areas.
Assess the adequacy of processes related to the manufacture and distribution of acceptable high-quality banknotes that meets the Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) and United States Secret Service (USSS) requirements for design, function, and counterfeit deterrence.
Write audit reports, which succinctly state non-conformances, systematic gaps or weakness, and opportunities to improve the quality system and /or the final product quality.
Investigate customer complaints and deficiency reports and identify root causes or contributing factors.
Communicate with auditee, audit team, and management both orally and in writing on status of audits, projects, or other assigned activities.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-13 is one year (52 weeks) of experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as:
Experience in a range of quality assurance principles, concepts, and methodology AND
Experience managing quality audits AND
Experience applying Quality Assurance Systems or Programs in a manufacturing environment.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
