Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, National Targeting Center - Counter Network Division in Sterling, VA.

Duties

The work carried out by this position engages in developing and recommending policies and procedures along with providing oversight and direction for intelligence initiatives. This position starts at a salary of $139,395.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $181,216.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $181,216.00 (GS-14, Step 10). In this Intelligence Research Specialist position you will become a key member of a team of Homeland Security professionals managing a variety of intelligence driven programs. Typical work assignments include: Providing program guidance on monitoring and analysis of processes and procedures; Providing comprehensive knowledge of analytical tools, methodology, management issues, and programs; Developing operational guidelines and policies; Contributing to short- and long-term planning through project management; Overseeing and advising cases involving in-depth research, analytical efforts, and other initiatives regarding threats to border security;

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Coordinating intelligence efforts and sharing information with other personnel within the intelligence and enforcement communities; Handling sensitive law enforcement and national security issues; Planning, organizing, administering and coordinating intelligence activities; Resolving problems related to planning and directing the collection, analysis, and reporting of intelligence information; NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 03/11/2024.
