The successful candidate will conduct research activities related to the area of infectious diseases. The position requires physician level training (MD, DO, MBBS, etc.) with experience in research in infectious diseases. The successful candidate will serve as the Study Coordinator of which includes screening, enrollment, sample collection, ensuring protocol adherence, and query management.
Duties
The successful candidate will conduct research activities related to the area of infectious diseases under the direction of Dr. Forest Arnold. The position requires physician level training with experience in research in infectious diseases. The successful candidate will serve as the Study Coordinator of which includes screening, enrollment, sample collection, ensuring protocol adherence, and query management. The Study Coordinator will work closely with the Director to ensure proper protocol adherence and successful implementation of the research project. The incumbent will interface with internal and external collaborators, research personnel, and other entities as needed. In addition, the Study Coordinator will also work with counterparts to ensure that research study visits, regulatory processes, and other project work progress on time.
Principal duties include:
Coordinate the daily activities and contracts related to one or more research program(s)
Assist in the development, coordination, and facilitation of trainings and workshops for internal and external audiences to disseminate research program developments and information
Plan, develop, and implement processes and protocols to support research aims
Perform screening, enrollment & consenting, sample collection, data entry, and query resolution activities per study protocol
Serve as a unit liaison and subject matter expert among internal and external stakeholder groups, collaborates across disciplines and functional areas, provides program information, and promotes the accomplishments and developments of scholars and research initiatives
Develop policies, procedures, and institutional agreements on behalf of the program
Qualifications

English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
Graduate of an accredited university with a Doctor of Philosophy Degree.
Physical Requirements: This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, and sitting. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must comply with any Employee Health requirements as a condition of employment. In the performance of duties, the incumbent may be required to drive and/or ride in GSA-vehicles.
Education
Physician or equivalent (MD, DO, MBBS, etc.) required; experience related to infectious diseases preferred, with additional expertise in clinical research activities viewed favorably. The research includes screening patient medical records, patient interaction for consenting, sample collection, data entry, and query management. The candidate must have:
